Churches Together in Hertfordshire unites in pilgrimage those churches in the area which, acknowledging God's revelation in Christ, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord according to the Scriptures, and in obedience to God's will and in the power of the Holy Spirit commit themselves:
To seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another
in the Church, which is his body; and
To fulfil their mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness
and service in the world:
To the glory of one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Local Ecumenical Partnerships are not the only form of churches working together locally! LEPs (local ecumenical partnerships) exits where there is a formal written agreement affecting the ministry, congregational life, buildings and/or mission projects of more than one denomination, with authorization by the appropriate denominational authorities and the registration of that agreement with the Sponsoring Body (in this case - CTHerts).
There are different kinds of LEPs, but most are either:
1. A single congregation from two or more denominations;
2. A Covenanted Partnership, where each denomination worships in its own building but has a strong commitment to united witness and ministry;
3. A Shared Building Partnership where there is a legal agreement to use one church building by more than one denomination.
There can also be Chaplaincy, Mission and Education Partnerships.
